Translation of WEB-page / ASP-applications / Intranet-applications
More and
more programs are becoming available via the Internet and various browsers, for
example Internet Explorer and Netscape.
To be
able to translate such applications and to make them available in different
languages Eurocity Software has developed a server based translation
application that can translate WEB content from any one language to
another. There is for example no problem
in making a Japanese homepage available in Swedish or English or Russian with Software Translator for WEB.
For those responsible for a homepage, a
translation using Software Translator for
Web gives the following advantages.
|
An example
of a relatively static WEB-application in English |
The same WEB-application in Polish |
Because Software
Translator for WEB translates by exchanging a designated word or phrase
with the corresponding word or phrase in a different language it is well suited
for relatively static WEB-applications such as booking programs for train and
plane tickets, WEB shops, product catalogs, CRM programs, accounting programs
and more. Software Translator for WEB does
not analyze the grammar within a text or try to understand its meaning. For this reason 100% correct translation is
achieved for all words and phrases predefined in dictionaries customized for
particular WEB-applications.
Some products that have been
translated using Software Translator
A long line of products have been translated
using Software Translator. In some cases a program developer wants to quickly
and efficiently expand into foreign language markets, in other cases a
subsidiary or distributor needs to translate products for a particular market
in order to compete more effectively.
Here are some examples of products that have been translated using
Software Translator:
|
The CRM
software Pivotal from English to Swedish |
PrintMusic from
English to Swedish |

Bilingual programs – both in original language AND
translated at the same time!
|
Now you can have your Windows program in
English and at the same time translated into your own language! Using a
program in one’s own language is almost always desirable as it means a
greater understanding of the program and therefor a more effective user. Sometimes this need is not compatible with
the company policy of an international company where English is the chosen
business language, or the fact that support and course material is often only
available in English. The solution is
to run the program in English and have the translation in the tooltips
available everywhere. |
The translation is entirely
separate in the new tooltip which is available everywhere |
Software
Translator does not only translate what a program shows on the screen. Software Translator can also translate
predefined printouts of reports, error messages, product information and more
into any new language.
Translate ”shared files” from Windows. Only way to achieve 100%translation
Most modern Windows programs today get part of
their user interface from the operating system (Windows). This means that if
you run a German program on an English operating system you will get a mixture
of English and German despite the entire program having been translated.
With Software Translator everything to do with
a program is translated regardless of whether parts of the user interface come
from ”shared files” in Windows. This
means that a %100 correct translation rate of a program can be achieved even if
the program retrieves Open-, Save- and other dialogue boxes from the Windows
operating system.

Software Translator. It gets
completely translated despite being run on an English operating system. |
Acrobat Reader translated into Swedish using
traditional techniques. When it runs
on an English operating system the user interface becomes a mixture of
English and Swedish |
”It became a lot cheaper using Software
Translator rather than traditional translation”
(Distributor
in Sweden of the CRM program Pivotal)
