Software Translator

- Localization and Translation Software -

Software Translator is by far the cheapest, fastest way to translate Windows software.

Software Translator can translate your Windows software into new languages without affecting or altering the source code in any way.

"On-the-fly" resizing of text in dialog boxes in Windows software

The search dialog box in Notepad.

The search dialog box translated into German WITHOUT resizing.

Just like Software Translator captures words and sentences in English and switches them for their equivalents in German, the coordinates for where they are can be placed in a button or box (e.g. the search dialog box in Notepad), and they can be captured and altered “on-the-fly”. This means that how a button or box looks can be modified to a great extent. It is also possible to move the buttons or switch their positions if you want to do that.

This problem is due to the fact that the English language is more compact than many other languages. A sentence in English translated into German or Finnish, for example, can often end up 20-25% longer.

This means that there is sometimes not enough space for translated sentences in software designed for the English language.

The traditional solution to this problem is either to abbreviate the text or to change the size of text affected in buttons or boxes in the source code of the original software. This is time-consuming work that requires personnel who are skilled in both languages and programming, as well as careful testing to ensure that the function and stability of the software is not affected by the alterations to the source code.

With Software Translator 7.0, anyone skilled in languages can himself alter the size of the buttons or boxes so that translated text can be accommodated without changing anything in the source code for the original software. This is possible because Software Translator 7.0 does not affect the translated software in any way. All it does is capture the original, (usually) English text in the button or box on its way to the screen (“on-the-fly”) and switch the language and size of the text before displaying it.

This new functionality in Software Translator 7.0 makes it even easier for you to produce good translations and adaptations for versions in new languages.

WYSIWYG translation

The illustration on the left shows Phrase Properties for any word or phrase.

When the translator keys in a text, e.g. “Etwas”, in the Target Phrase field, this appears directly in the Search dialog box as shown in the illustration above.

If so required, he can move the text to the right or left, and up or down in the box using “Position”, as well as giving the text more space (width/height) using “Size”.

WYSISYG translation stands for What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get translation, which means that if so required, you can adjust the position and size of buttons, and redesign the entire dialog box which appears on screen. These functions have been developed primarily to allow you to alter sizing when the translated word or phrase does not fit into the designated space.
