The Swedish tax authority Skatteverket runs 14,500 Software Translator licences

Skatteverket is Sweden’s central authority dealing with taxation, debt collection and national registration. For the authority, the main aim is to minimize errors and one of the most important factors in this is clear and user-friendly computer software.
One of many computer programs used by Skatteverket is the American HyperSnap application, which is a program for managing and editing screenshots and other images. As HyperSnap is not available in Swedish, Skatteverket contacted Eurocity Software for help in creating a Swedish version.

The Dutch company Pollux reaches 15,000 Software Translator licences

Pollux was quick to take to Software Translator. The reason for translating locally in Holland was that the supplier, Autodesk, considered the market too small to do translation centrally. The experience from Holland has been increased sales and reduced demand for customer support. The decision to continue using Software Translator was therefore easy to take. Pollux has translated AutoCAD LT, the world’s best-selling CAD application, and AutoCAD, the world’s most widely used CAD program.

AutoCAD from Autodesk in five different languages

The latest four AutoCAD releases were translated into Swedish, and three of these into Dutch as well. AutoCAD LT is a light version of AutoCAD and is available is five languages, of which the last four versions have been translated into Swedish and Dutch. The latest AutoCAD LT language is Danish, which has just been completed. Other Autodesk applications that have been translated are high-end programs such as Map, Architectural Desktop (3D CAD software for building design) and Land Developer Desktop (software for road and landscape planning). Some of Autodesk’s low-budget programs such as AutoSketch and QuickCAD have also been translated using Software Translator, as well as third-party applications such as CADvent, a ventilation program translated into German and Swedish.

Swiss CADTEC markets Alibre Design in German

CADTEC is one of many value-added distributors who choose to use Software Translator to translate programs quickly, inexpensively and to their own specification. The decision is often easy for distributors who work close to the end-client market and recognize users’ requirements as well as competition from other systems. For a great many distributors, a ‘language application’ or language add-on has now also become a welcome source of extra revenue, as language applications can also be sold separately to existing customers.
